The Biggest Loser Challenge

by swisslady45

Some of you are the competitive type, others may not be but I thought I would see who all is interested.  We could make this a biggest loser thing & know that we have a big goal in the end – not just health, looking & feeling good, being able to buy clothes, living longer, pleasing God, being a better testimony, all good enough reasons on their own.
But for the fun of it, what if we upped the antie, so to speak, by contributing monetarily into a pot that 1 person or 1 team gets to collect one year from tomorrow.  We could start with 25.00 registration fee to be paid by 1 month from today.  Then, how about 10.00 a month plus these other rules that I suggest.  At the end, someone will have about  8 or 900.00 or so to win & we all spend much more than that a month just on coffee, coke, chips, & all kinds of junk.  We could do it individually or we could do it in teams of 2 – for instance, Bud & Dena, Jason & I, Bree-anne and Charlotte, or Jennifer & Charlotte & Bree-Anne & whoever she knows that would want to partner with her.  If any of you know of relatives or friends that would like to be a part of this – feel free to spread the news but they need to join pretty quickly because I want to start tomorrow.  The faster we begin, the greater our chances of winning the grand total.  I know I am springing this on some of you – don’t feel pressure if this is not your thing but when Dena emailed me tonight about us all starting together & getting serious about it – I knew it was now.  I so wanted to have at least 15 lbs off before France & I am down to only 3 weeks.  What do you say?  Who all is in?  I suggest that you weigh naked ( don’t mean to be graphic) first thing in the a.m. before you eat or drink.  That way, food or drink or clothing does not throw off your weight.  You would be surprised how much any of those things can change the results.  Please let me know in the next couple of days, if you are in, if you have anyone to team up with or would rather do it individually or what?  I’m ready to go.

Biggest Loser Contest Rules
1. We need to weigh in on the same scale at the same time. This keeps things consistent (and honest).
2. You go by the percent of body weight loss. The calculation is the take your actual weight (today) and subtract it form your initial weight. Then divide that number by your initial (starting) weight. Take that number and multiply it by 100 and you get your weight loss percentage.
((IW-AW)/IW) * 100= weight loss percentage
So if I start at 211, and I lose 5 lbs in a month and end up at 206.
That’s 211-206 (5 lbs.)
Take 5 lbs.  and divide it by my starting weight (211).  5/211 = .023697
Multiply that by 100 and you get 2.37%
The first weigh in will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2015
3. The final weigh in will be on Friday, March 11, 2016.
4. Weigh-in’s will occur every Wednesday, at first thing in the morning.
Choose one person to manage the money and record all weigh ins.
5. There is a one time $ 25.00 registration fee which “MUST” be paid during the first month.
6. There will be a $1 weigh in fee per week applied to all contestants.
9. There will be a penalty fee of $1 applied if your weight stays the same.
10. There will be a penalty fee of $1 if you miss weighing in. This dollar will be combined with the weekly weigh in fee of $1, for a total of $2 dollars each time you miss a weigh in.
11. There will be a penalty fee of $1 added for each pound gained. (i.e. Gain 3 pounds, you owe $3)
13. One person will win all the money at the end of 1 year.
Here are some tips for keeping people involved:
Teams can add accountability.
Having a team to be accountable to is very important.
Being accountable to other people can really help people stay on track.
Make the weigh-in public knowledge.  This provides yet another aspect of accountability and motivation.
A chart should be created to track the weekly progress of each team member, with team totals appearing as well.
